Shelby, Cleveland County and North Carolina are proud to welcome baseball fans to the 2008 American Legion Southeast Regional and World Series.
This event is a “dream come true” for many local baseball supporters and continues the long legacy of interest and support for the game in this region.
Shelby residents are especially proud to be the first North Carolina city to host a regional and World Series in the same years. Ironically, it marks the first time since 1945 that North Carolina has hosted the championship series — the same year a young group of 16- and 17-year-olds representing Post 82 here brought home the World Series crown.

Baseball in Shelby has been an integral part of the sports scene for most of the past century.
